Everything you publish to the marketplace lives under Compute > Image Marketplace, in the My listings tab. Each listing shows as a card with its current status and a row of buttons for the actions available in that status.
Two actions on this page cannot be undone. Read this before you select anything.
The confirmation dialog for deleting a custom image only talks about the image itself:
Deleting this custom image also deletes its underlying data and releases storage capacity. Existing instances are not affected. Continue?
Nothing in that sentence mentions the marketplace. But if the image you are deleting is the source of a community listing, the platform archives that listing in the same database transaction as the delete — regardless of whether the listing was a draft, in review, published, rejected, or suspended. Only a listing that is already archived is left alone.
The table below separates what this automatic archive actually does from what a publisher might reasonably expect it to do, based on the dialog text.
| What happens | What does not happen |
|---|---|
| The custom image is deleted and its storage is released | The dialog warns you that a marketplace listing will be archived — the text never mentions the marketplace |
| Every listing built from that image is switched to Archived, no matter what status it was in | The archive reason is shown anywhere in the UI — the listing detail page only renders a reason for Rejected and Suspended, never for Archived |
| The listing is removed from marketplace search and listing pages immediately | A notification is sent, or an administrator reviews the change — this is a fully automatic cleanup with no human step |
| Instances already created from the listing keep running, unaffected | Any button appears on the archived listing — an archived listing has no Edit, Submit, Withdraw, Publish new version, or Archive action left |
| If the same backup is shared by more than one custom image, only this image and its listing are removed; the underlying data stays for the other image, and the physical file is only queued for deletion once the last image referencing it is gone | Any other listing in your account is affected — only listings sourced from the deleted image are archived |
[!NOTE] The database does record an internal reason for this automatic archive, but it is never surfaced in the interface for the archived state, so you cannot confirm from the UI alone that a given archive was caused by an image deletion rather than a manual archive.
A listing moves through six statuses. Only Published is visible in the public marketplace; every other status is private to you.
| Status | Visible in the marketplace | Actions available to you | How a listing gets here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Draft | No | Edit, Submit for review, Archive | Created when you first publish; or reached by withdrawing from review |
| In review | No | Withdraw, Archive | Submitted from Draft or Rejected; or a new version submitted from Published |
| Published | Yes | Publish new version, Archive | An administrator approves it while it is in review |
| Rejected | No | Edit, Submit again, Archive | An administrator rejects it while it is in review, with a reason |
| Suspended | No | Archive only | An administrator suspends a published listing, with a reason |
| Archived | No | None | You select Archive; or the source custom image is deleted |
A Suspended listing only offers the Archive button — there is no self-service action that puts it back in the marketplace. If you believe a suspension was a mistake, contact support instead of trying to work around it in the dashboard; only an administrator can restore a suspended listing to Published, and doing so happens outside this page.
- Permissions: managing a listing requires the same role that let you publish it. Project viewers cannot see the lifecycle buttons.
- Only community listings behave this way: this page covers listings you published from your own custom images. Official images follow a separate, platform-managed lifecycle that does not use these buttons.
- A listing needs a source custom image to exist: if you plan to delete the custom image a listing was built from, read What deleting the source image actually does first.
- Go to Compute > Image Marketplace and open the My listings tab.
- On a listing in Draft or Rejected, select Submit for review (or Submit again on a rejected listing).
- Confirm the listing name, description, and category are complete. The dialog blocks submission if the name or category is empty.
- Select Submit for review in the dialog.
- The status changes to In review. The listing stays private until an administrator approves or rejects it.
Submitting clears any earlier rejection reason, so a rejected listing shows no leftover error once it is back in review.
Withdrawing is only available while a listing is In review.
- On a listing in In review, select Withdraw.
- The status returns to Draft.
- Edit the listing and submit it again when ready.
Withdrawing is the only way to pull a submission back before an administrator acts on it. Once it is approved or rejected, withdrawing is no longer offered.
Publish new version is only available on a Published listing, and it reuses the same submit action as a first-time submission.
- On a listing that is Published, select Publish new version.
- Enter a version string different from the current one, and describe what changed.
- Submit the new version.
- The status changes to In review.
Archiving is available on any status except Archived itself.
- On the listing card, select Archive.
- The Archive listing dialog opens: "Archiving removes the listing from the marketplace. Instances already created are unaffected. This cannot be undone."
- Select Archive to confirm.
- The status changes to Archived immediately, and the listing disappears from marketplace search and listing pages.
Instances that were already created from the listing are not affected — this is the one guarantee that survives every path into Archived, whether you triggered it or a deleted source image did.
An archived listing has no lifecycle buttons left, so there is nothing to select on the card itself.
There is no product path that moves a listing out of Archived — not for you, and not for an administrator. The only way to offer the same image again is to publish a new listing from a custom image and take it through review from the start. That new listing gets a new listing ID.
[!NOTE] Whether install counts, favorites, and ratings carry over to a republished listing is not confirmed. Treat a new listing as starting from zero until this is verified against the product.
